FAQs

Where are you based?

I am a professional wedding film maker based in Staffordshire, in the Midlands. I have served weddings in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.

What is your background in film?

I have served as a professional wedding film maker for the past decade, producing wedding films for incredible couples across the Midlands and the wider UK. Prior to wedding videography, I worked as a director in TV, so I know my way around a camera!

What’s your style? How involved in the wedding will you be?

I've always found that the best images don't just come from the gorgeous locations or that perfect moment when the evening sunlight shines perfectly through your flowing hair (although that helps), but by creating a great rapport with the couples; a happy, relaxed couple make for the most beautiful shots. There's nothing better than a smile... although an occasional moody shot works wonders too! Ultimately, I could spend the entire day setting up lovely shots with my couples, but this is the best day of your life, and I'm sure you don't want to spend it stuck with me the whole time. My job is to work fast and get you back to the party as quickly as possible. How involved I am is ultimately your decision. I have plenty of experience as a film maker for all kinds of ceremonies - whether you want me to step back and observe or be right there with you, your day is up to you.

Can you travel?

I am happy to travel all over the country to record your wedding film. I don’t charge additional fees for mileage – however, if the location is more than a two-hour drive, I will need to overnight in a hotel. This will cost a maximum of £60 in addition to whichever package you choose.

Can we discuss the videography before the day?

Of course. I am happy to have as many phone/video calls as you’d like. I understand how important it is for you to trust your videographer, and I’m happy to discuss any special requests or requirements you may have.

What equipment do you use to record?

I have 3 cameras: 2 smaller DSLR-type cameras (Lumix GH5) and a slightly larger tripod-mounted camera (Canon C300) that I use during the ceremony and speeches.

How long will recording take?

All packages include filming from bridal/groom prep, until the 1st dance (or the partying shortly after that); however if there is anything you’d like filmed towards the end of the night there would be an additional £100 charge.

How & when will I receive my video?

I aim to deliver all wedding films within 6-8 weeks and the easiest way is I send the films to you via a download link, typically through Wetransfer; however, I am happy to arrange physical copies if you’d like.

How much do you charge for wedding films?

I offer three packages starting at £995. Please email me at hello@jamesohalloranstudios.co.uk for more information on packages and pricing, or if you’d like to discuss a bespoke package.
